The Home employs a range of staff from management, nurses, carers, activities, cooks, maintenance, domestic and administration staff. There is always a nurse on and also carers on duty 24 hours a day.
Our staff are selected for their qualities of reliability, integrity, skill, friendliness and professionalism. They are carefully screened, police checked and references are always checked thoroughly. During induction all staff are trained in-house by experienced qualified senior staff.
Staff are trained in the following critical subjects:
- Fire Safety
- Confidentiality
- Health and Safety
- Moving and Handling
- Personal care tasks
- Knowledge about all residents’ needs
Many of our carers have either completed or are working on their Scottish Vocational Qualification. This is a work-based qualification. They work as a guarantee that someone can do their work well and to the national standard for their sector. All new members of staff are given the chance to train to SVQ Level 2. Other training courses include "Person-Centred Care" “Dementia Awareness & Skilled Practice”, “Challenging behaviour”, “Cross Infection”, “Protection of Vulnerable Adults” and “Palliative Care”.
